World Settings

Earth 1999

This setting is the most familiar; it's Planet Earth more or less present day. The technological rating is standard for just now. Earth has no true magic but some people are capable of small magical feats but nothing that is outstanding. The fall rating of Earth is currently non-existent and will not be explainable. Most things on Earth have an explanation, if that is right or not is another question...

[IQ: 9|Tech: 6|Magic: 1|Fall: 1]

Earth 1999 is a quite easy setting for a ref to use, everyone knows what is around. The main trouble is attempting to find a way to make characters gain fall and additionally explain vestigium. These are quite hard to explain in a current day Earth setting, be inventive ancient curses, aliens and other "weird" things will help.
You are not lmited to having it as JUST 1999, you could easily have Earth 1945, the rating is pretty much the same but with slightly less tech.

Advanced World

The advanced world setting represents the fantasy setting of Akira or Final Fantasy seven; it is a highly technological world that has many strange and unexplainable people, events and well "things" in it. The advanced world setting has an extreme technology rating and may even contain some magical powers of sorts. The fall rating of an advanced world is normally quite high but losing fall can also be relatively easy.

[IQ: 4-8|Tech: 8|Magic: 5-8|Fall: 6]

Advanced worlds are pretty much like Earth 1999 but with "neat" things lurking around, fall is very easy to give to players and sadly (from a ref view) it's quite easy to loose.

Earth circa 1700AD

In ye olde Middle Ages the technological rating was quite poor and most bad events where blamed on devils or demons. Earth in the 1700's had slightly more magic then just now but again in general nothing outstanding will take place. The fall rating of Earth in the Middle Ages was slightly higher then in Earth 1999.

[IQ: 6|Tech: 4|Magic: 3|Fall: 3]

Earth in the middle ages is a harder setting if you wish to be historically accurate, however it's also really easy to give players fall in this setting.

Ancient Earth (circa 200BC)

The time of Roman and Greek legends, the technological setting is almost the same as Earth circa 1700, and there is a much higher magic rating. The fall rating of Ancient Earth is relatively high for an Earth setting, as those Gods do tend to zap mortals from time to time.

[IQ: 4|Tech: 4|Magic: 6|Fall: 5]

A quite "fun" setting to use, again hard if you want to be accurate, as mentioned fall is so easy to give and explain in this setting.

Enchanted world

Enchanted worlds are relatively rare and contain all the "throwbacks" that don't exist on most other worlds. The technology rating of enchanted worlds is incredibly low considering how many raw resources are available. The magic rating on a enchanted world is always full and the fall rating in generally high. Most of what is on Enchanted worlds is unexplainable and many of its inhabitants are unrecognisable.

[IQ: 2|Tech: 2|Magic: 9|Fall: 6]

Much like an advanced world but with even more weird "things" milling around and very little information on them.

Hunter universe

The hunter universe setting is the most dangerous, there is always a high technology rating but it is unlikely that anyone who is not a "hunter" will have access to it. There is no magic on these worlds, since all practices of magic have been destroyed. Everything has an explanation on this world, even falling. HOWEVER all those that fall are hunted down and destroyed as it is part of the belief system that falling is wrong, magic is also wrong and that which is wrong must be destroyed (nice place hunh.) Hunters are well tested for imperfections during recruitment and if any are found the hunter will be destroyed. Citizens are tested rather regularly but some do manage to "slip" through the net.

[IQ: 9|Tech: 9|Magic: 0|Fall: 0]

This is a great place for ref's fall is very hard to give sadly and when a player eventually makes a mistake of gaining any fall you can smile and laugh. It's fun, trust us.

Decimated world

In a decimated world everything is dying, the world all it's people and life is slowly dying. There is a chance (well okay there's not actually...) that the world might be saved. Magic is a left over curse from devastating wars and centuries of a dying species, likewise there are also many unusual creatures, mutated over time into unrecognisable monsters. The technology level is high but most of the functions of the devices will have been long forgotten over time. Falling in a decimated world is not uncommon, it's frowned upon by the elders of the world as without everyone it's highly likely the world will just die.

[IQ: 7|Tech: 8 (Effective as 4)|Magic: 4|Fall: 4]

I never liked decimated world's myself, there's very little to do except become depressed. Decimated worlds are wild deserts with little life and little of intrest, it's harsh and hard living here on the edge.

Animal world

The setting of the animal world is much like planet of the Apes, over time humans have been repressed and now animals are in control. The technology rating of animal worlds are generally low due to the poor manual dexterity most animals have in what passes for hands. Unusually most things are explainable in the animal world; some "strange" things are blamed on humans but most are defined. Falling in animal world is positively encouraged but it does not happen to often, which is also like the magic in the animal world as magic is somewhat repressed.

[IQ: 9|Tech: 6|Magic: 4|Fall: 3]

Oddly this world setting is very hard to use, a world completely ruled and organised by Animals has very diffrent social and poltical structures to Earth.

Fallen world

You are quite possibly the last humans that have yet to fall. You are possibly the last hope that humanity has. The world has an abysmal rating in almost everything except fall. The technological rating of the world is laughable; what ever is available on paw is what the tools will be. Magic may exist in very powerful forms but it is unlikely that anyone will be able to access it until after they have fallen. Almost everything on this world is left to guess work and many things are left totally unexplained.

[IQ: 2/3|Tech: 3|Magic: 3|Fall: 9]

Not a very nice place to be, like a Animal world very differing structures are in place here. Can be intresting to try for a short game.

Nightmare World

If you thought the hunter universe was bad this place makes almost anywhere you can imagine look like a holiday camp. This place has darkness even in the dark, monsters hidden inside monsters and hunters everywhere. It's not that this place is inhospitable to human (or even fallen) life it's just that what ever you fear the most tends to gather here in large quantities.

[IQ: 0/1|Tech: 0|Magic: 0/1|Fall: 8/10]

Ref's love this setting, it's just pure evil and not nice. Players tend to cry if they end up here.
